I'm not receiving the SMS code.
Check the number you entered (country code included) and your signal. Most codes arrive in under 10 seconds. If nothing arrives after a minute, tap Resend or try again 5 minutes later. If you still don't get it, email us with the number and we'll investigate.
I lost my phone / changed my number.
Email us from the email you can prove is yours and include the old number. We'll delete the old account so you can start fresh on the new one.
Finding people
Why is nobody at the spots near me?
IRL only works when other people are checked in. At launch we're seeded in Lisbon and Setúbal — try a central café or bar in the evening, or check into a spot before you arrive so others can see you. No ghost profiles: if no one's there, no match happens.
I checked in but nothing's happening.
You'll match the moment a compatible person checks into the same spot. If 15 minutes pass with no match, the check-in expires automatically. You can also cancel from the waiting card.
Can I match with people at a different spot?
Not in this version. Both of you need to be checked into the same place. (We're looking at nearby-spot clustering for a future update.)
Meeting up
How do I find them in the venue?
Open the chat — everyone's first name and photo is there. Anyone can open the QR screen (top right); the others scan it to confirm you all showed up. You need to be within ~50 m of each other for the scan to count.
Someone didn't show up.
After 15 minutes without the full group verifying, the meetup dissolves. No one is penalised, but repeat no-shows get flagged by our system.
How do I leave a meetup?
Open the chat → top-right door icon → Leave. You'll be removed from the group. If you're in the waiting state (no match yet), tap Cancel check-in on the waiting card.
Account, privacy, safety
How do I delete my account?
Me tab → Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: profile, check-ins, messages, connections, and push tokens are erased. If you can't open the app, email us from the number tied to your account and we'll do it for you.
Is my phone number visible to other users?
No. Other users only ever see your first name, photo, vibes, and meet count. Your number is used only for sign-in.
How do I report or block someone?
Tap their name or avatar → Report (choose a reason) or Block. Blocks are immediate and two-way: you'll never match or message again. Manage your block list under Settings → Blocked Users.
What data do you collect?
Phone number (sign-in), precise location (to show nearby spots — never shared with other users), your profile, your messages, and your push token. We don't sell data, don't share it with advertisers, and don't track you across other apps. Full policy at irl.tech/privacy.
I want a copy of my data / to exercise a GDPR right.
